INGREDIENTS
200 Grams of Gram Flour (Chana no lot)
150 Grams of Pure Ghee (Desi Ghee)
¼ teaspoon of Cardamom Powder (Elaichi Powder)
50ml Milk (Dudh)
200 Grams Sugar (Khand)
Water as required
INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISHING
7-8 nos. of Chopped Almonds (Badam)
7-8 nos. of Chopped Pistachios (Pista)
PROCEDURE
Place the gram flour in a bowl, heat ghee and pour half over the flour. Mix throughly ghee into the gram flour with the palms till it resembles bread crumbs. Heat the remaining ghee, now add the flour and stir continuously till golden brown. Remove from heat and allow to cool. To prepare the sugar syrup, heat water in another bowl, add the sugar and simmer for 10 minutes, now add milk to the sugar syrup. You will see a black layer impurities floating on the top. Remove these impurities with the help of a spoon. Simmer till syrup is of one thread consistency. Add the browned gram flour to the sugar syrup and stir well. Now pour into a thali greased with ghee and spread evenly. Garnish with almonds and pistachios and allow it to cool for 3 to 4 hours. Cut into your desired shapes, i prefer square shape. Your Mohanthal is ready, once cooled separate each pieces and store them in an air tight container.
